World Series Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting extended matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a aggregate 51M spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball announced this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the last finale between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English-language program in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-match World Series averaged 15.71M audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete US viewership reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the World Series was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
